Developing a strong work-based culture with a sociable feel to it has been a key priority for Activ Technology in recent years.
Our 25-strong workforce have a fantastic work ethic and we wanted to actively encourage time for colleagues to bond away from their desks, encourage a healthy lifestyle and reward them for their hard work.
Over the last year we have made some small changes to our workplace culture which has really helped to boost staff morale and has sent a positive message to our team that they are the number one priority.
One of which has been our fruit basket which is on display as you enter our office. Consisting of bananas, peaches, watermelons, grapes and apples – all of which is topped up on a weekly basis. Employees and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the healthy snacks as they pass to and from the building.
We have also discovered that some of our team can serve a good double…and by that I mean at Ping Pong!
We have a number of communal areas for the team to enjoy but the arrival of our ping pong table has seen employees get to the office at 8am to enjoy a game before work and many now wind down their evening with a quick match before they travel home.
It has been fantastic to see so many familiar faces ‘bounce’ into action and a tournament has even been set up.
Employees who have a sick-free quarter are rewarded with an extra half a day holiday. The half day can be used however they want either as recreation or for any appointments they may otherwise have needed time off work for.
We have also committed that for all colleagues who joined us after January 2018, if targets are achieved by the end of September, they will receive an extra week of holiday in 2019 as a reward and recognition for their continued efforts.
In addition, we also have an Activ app for the team to take advantage of. All employees can log into the app and have the opportunity to save 8% in a range of high street stores.
We want to ensure that our team remain on their career journey with us and by investing in them and nurturing their talent and growth we are continually able to attract a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
