The much anticipated iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be arriving on Activ’s doorstep this Friday, 16th September. The latest handset was unveiled earlier this month with the stand out surprise being the lack of headphone jack. But what other new features does this flagship device come bundled with?
For starters, the standard devices will come with a memory of 32GB – double that of the 6S with stark jumps up to 128GB and then even 256GB. Whilst on the surface that size storage may sound unnecessary, but with Apple products not having the ability to use external memory cards the larger internal memory will be music to many people’s ears.
The sleek shape replicates that of the iPhone 6S, with exactly the same dimensions but a slightly lighter feel (143g against 138g of the 6S). Apple has followed in Samsung’s footsteps and used IP67 protection to provide dust and water resistance. Apart from Space Gray bowing out, the 6S colours of silver, gold and rose gold will be continued in the iPhone 7 with new “Black” and “Jet Black” options looking likely to dominate the market place.
Featuring two stereo speakers, one at the top and the other at the base of the handset, the iPhone 7 is advertised to give louder, crisper audio which will deliver twice the volume of the 6S. This brings us nicely to the headline fact of the removal of the standard headphone jack. As always, the headline brings more drama than reality reflects – you’ll get a set of Lightning EarPods in the box, so you can plug in and listen straight away. Similarly, the phone comes with a headphone adaptor which whilst a little chunky will still let you use your current headphones with the phone.
The swanky answer is to invest in a pair of AirPods – Apple’s first wireless Bluetooth earbuds. They’ll deliver up to five hours of listening time on a single charge, and come with dual microphones and touch response, enabling you to take calls and interact with Siri. The pods have their own case which will charge the buds while they’re inside, and hopefully prevent them from getting lost straight away.
Activ is taking pre-orders of the devices for our business customers, get in touch now to benefit from the best tariffs and receive your handset ahead of the crowd.
