Exam success for dancing queen, Lauren Robison and IT enthusiast, Harry Young

The development of younger members of our team and their enthusiasm to learn has been great to witness.

We are committed to encouraging young talent and are proud to have developed the careers of many people within our workforce.

Harry Young has successfully completed his IT and networking apprenticeship with training provider, QA, to become a full time member of the team.

Over an 18 month period, Harry studied for five different modules which included three Microsoft exams and two British Computer Society (BCS) exams involving a mixture of college and home learning whilst working with the IT team here at Activ where his role is predominantly on the IT help desk, receiving calls from customers and helping with any enquiries.

We are delighted Harry has successfully passed his apprenticeship and is looking to progress his career with us.

Our business admin apprentice, Lauren Robison, is going from strength-to strength having recently completed an ICT exam in functional skills and another exam in employee rights and responsibility where she received top marks.

With three more exams to complete Lauren will then become a fully qualified internal account manager.

Lauren, said: “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship at Activ and have a mentor in account manager, Emma Gillespie, who has taken me under her wing and has really helped to develop my knowledge simply through encouraging me and allowing me to shadow her on client activity.

“The theory side to the placement is really interesting. The employee rights and responsibility module enabled me to learn about differing laws and theories and how it applies to Activ giving me wider business knowledge.

“I am lucky to work in a supportive environment and the team really put their collective weight behind me both professionally and personally. I recently competed in North Carolina where I was part of an Irish dancing team that won the World Championships.

“Having won the qualifying heats, it was amazing not only to travel to the US but to beat a range of 40 top class teams and go on to win.

“I have danced for 14 years and have decided to hang up my dancing shoes to concentrate on my career and this was the perfect way to bow out!”
