The 13th October sees the fifth anniversary of SharePoint 2010, and as is tradition with Microsoft products turning five – the mainstream support provided to users of SharePoint 2010 will cease on this date. You’ll still be able to use SharePoint 2010, but without access to mainstream support you will lose non-security updates, and service patches.
It is crucial to make plans now to upgrade your software if you’re still using SharePoint 2010, as any issues that arise, with the lack of support, will only be resolvable with a large injection of time and money. The best course of action for your business to take before a problem occurs would be to upgrade to SharePoint Online. Part of the Office 365 suite, the online software resides on the cloud and provides all users with access to documents, shared calendars and tools wherever they are and on whichever device – all through a simple internet connection.
In the coming months Activ will be hosting a series of SharePoint Surgeries to showcase the multitude of benefits working with SharePoint can bring to your business. With presentations and live demonstrations these surgeries will be held during breakfast events at our Head Office in Newcastle. We’ll be releasing full details of these events shortly, so keep an eye on social media to ensure you don’t miss out!
